Are Pa Metua Fundraiser for New Van
A luncheon fundraiser was held at The Islander Hotel on Wednesday, 21st December 2022 to raise funds for a new van to transport members of Te Are Pa Metua. The Ministry of Internal Affairs were working in support to plan the event.
“When Te Are Pa Metua approached us for support we were happy to do so, for all the members and staff who keep this important NGO going, thank you, this is the show of support for all of the work Te Are Pa Metua do. We may not have the whole vehicle today but this is a great start towards it” Secretary of Internal Affairs, Anne-Maire Herman said.
The luncheon was decided upon after the current vehicle could no longer be in service for Te Are Pa Metua members and staff.
“A new vehicle to transport our elderly from around the island is needed to allow Te Are Pa Metua to continue their work within our community and we are more than happy to be supporting this fundraising effort, it is encouraging to see the community rally behind these types of fundraising events” said Social Policy and Services Manager, Princess Raukete.
Music by our own SPS staff member Tuaine (Bubs) Manavaroa was joyfully played throughout the event with Te Vaerua Rehabilitation and members of Te Are Pa performing and making speeches for the more than 200 people who attended.
The ministry was joined by The Creative Centre, Te Ara Pa Metua to help with the preparations for the event. We would like to thank all who purchased tickets for the event and have supported this important NGO service for our elderly community. Meitaki Maata.
